Since 1977, Straub Construction has steadily grown into one of the most experienced and respected providers of design-build and construction management services in the southwestern United States. Straub is a privately held corporation specializing in public and private facility construction with annual contract revenue of more than $135 million.

MEET OUR TEAM.

 

Steven D. Fellows CEO / Chairman

Steve has over 30 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Steve has worked closely with Straub’s ownership in a CFO capacity for several years, and in 2021 purchased 100% of the company from Richard Straub. Steve is involved in the day to day operations, financial management, and business development of the company, and he has built a strong team around him to effectively build and manage Straub’s work program.

Steve began his work in the construction industry with the Thomas & Mack Development Group in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2001 before being hired as CFO of Century Steel, Inc. (CSI) in 2005. Steve has since served as CFO and in other capacities in the construction industry with companies such as Pacific Coast Steel, Gerdau and Commercial Metals Company. Steve began his career as a CPA with the accounting firm of Artur Anderson in San Francisco, California from 1992 to 1998. He holds a Masters of Accountancy degree from Brigham Young University.


Doug Muirheid, P.E. President

Doug Muirheid has over 40 years of construction and management expertise. Doug leads with a strong military service background and has successfully led design and construction teams in a wide range of large, complex construction projects.

As President, he oversees strategic and operational responsibility for all departments. Doug provides effective and inspiring leadership by being actively involved in all departments while developing a deep knowledge of all projects, budgets, and accounts. Doug holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), is a Registered Professional Engineer, and holds a CQMC Certification from NAVFAC and Army Corps of Engineers.


Patrick Nolan, CCM, DBIA Vice President & General Manager

With over 15 years of construction industry experience, Patrick Nolan has successfully managed and lead design and construction teams on a wide range of complex construction projects. As Vice President and General Manager, Patrick oversees operations, training, and business development within Straub’s organization.

Patrick has led and implemented effective quality improvement processes for Straub’s team, and continuously identifies opportunities to solve unique challenges and meet goals within our projects and organization. Patrick is a DBIA Certified Design-Build Professional, a CMAA Certified Construction Manager, and holds a Project Management Certification from the Associated General Contractors.

 

Shelley Kantin, Controller

Shelley has over 15 years of construction and accounting expertise. With a background in Public works and Federal contracting, she has brought her strong experience in the industry to Straub by providing financial management, analysis, and problem solving expertise in Straub’s ever-growing work program.

As Controller, Shelley helps Straub continually improve its financial reporting and operational management to improve cashflow and profitability. Also, Shelley manages and implements systems, processes and training to elevate our team in various payroll and HR related functions.

We created Straub University to be an interactive training program for our employees to sharpen their skills in the construction field. It has since evolved into a powerful training tool for our team to develop their technical, relational, and management skills in all aspects of construction. We take a deep dive into project management, change management, contracts, estimating, accounting, safety, risk mitigation, goal setting, time management, and other aspects crucial to the success of our employees and therefore, our projects.
